Year 1
In Year 1, we follow the national curriculum. This comprises of eleven subjects: English, Mathematics, Information and Communication Technology, History, Geography, Art and Design, Music, Design and Technology, P.E. and Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education.

Curriculum Statement – Spring 2023
Reading
Children read in a guided group at least three times a week and one-to-one with a teacher at least once a fortnight. We also hold a daily phonics session with a focus on blending and segmenting words.
Children are expected to read daily at home with their parents.
Spellings
Spellings are tested on a Thursday. The spellings are incorporated into the handwriting practise for the week to ensure overlearning.
Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check is the method used for learning spellings.
Mathematics
