In Year 1, we follow the national curriculum. This comprises of eleven subjects: English, Mathematics, Information and Communication Technology, History, Geography, Art and Design, Music, Design and Technology, P.E. and Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education.

Curriculum Statement Spring 2019
Children read in a guided group at least once a week and one-to-one with a teacher at least once a fortnight.
Children are expected to read daily at home with their parents.
Spellings are tested on a Tuesday and new spellings for the following week are issued on a Tuesday. The spellings are incorporated into the handwriting practise for the week to ensure overlearning.
Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check is the method used for learning spellings.
Writing and forming digits correctly is a key focus. Beat That will cover number facts such as pairs of numbers that equal 10, 1 or 10 more or less than numbers to 10, doubles of numbers to 10 …
Homework is set weekly, alternating English and Maths. Spellings and reading are also part of the weekly homework.
