Welcome to Moordown St John's Online
Introduction
mrherbert-med

I am delighted to introduce Moordown St. John's CE VA Primary School to you and as Head teacher I welcome you on behalf of the pupils, staff and governors to our Church School serving the community of Moordown and Parish of St. John's.

I hope you find our website interesting, informative and above all I hope you begin to get a taste of life at Moordown St. Johns Church of England Primary School.  One of our key aims is 'partnership' and it is therefore vital that our pupils' parents regard Moordown St. John's as 'their' school. The closer the partnership formed between home and school the more we are able together to further your child's education.

We are very proud of our school and the progress, achievements, well being and contentment of our pupils is paramount to us. We aim for every child to reach their full potential and to leave Moordown St. John's equipped as life long learners eager to enjoy life, love learning, take responsibility as citizens and be ambitious in all they do.

Please do not hesitate to call us if you require any further information and you are most welcome to visit the school by appointment and see us in action.

Yours sincerely,
Mr. Peter Herbert
Headteacher

As of September 2014 all children in Years R, 1 and 2 will be entitled to FREE Hot School Meals. Children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will also be offered a free hot school meal if their parent/guardian is receiving certain welfare benefits.

Families that are not eligible for free meals may order a hot school lunch at a cost of £2.00 per child, per day.

Free School Meals Registration and Pupil Premium Form

We ask, please, that all parents complete the free school meals registration form. This is important so that we can continue to register all pupils who attract a Pupil Premium. The Pupil Premium provides our school with additional money from central government, currently £1300 a year per pupil, for every child whose parent/guardian is receiving one of the welfare benefits listed on the registration form. This much needed additional money is used to provide extra help and tuition for pupils. Please help us to receive as much funding as possible by completing the form, even if your child is in Year R, Year 1 or Year 2.

How do I order hot school meals?

All hot school meals to be received from September 2014, whether free or paid for, must be ordered on-line from our new provider, Chartwells (The Creative Kitchen for schools). Their website is https://dorset.mealselector.co.uk or click on the Chartwells logo at the top of this page.

Help with registering and ordering Hot School Meals

The new deadline for ordering hot meals will be midnight on Sunday, 7 day before the week in which the meals are required. However, meals required for the first two weeks back after the summer holidays must be ordered online by Wednesday 23rd July. Meals for the week commencing Monday 15th September must be ordered by midnight on Sunday  7th September. You can order meals further in advance if you prefer.

Can I get help with registering/ordering?

From Friday 4th July, computers will be available in the Meeting Room (by the School Office) each Friday morning 08:40 - 09:00 for families who do not have internet access at home and/or would like help with registering/ordering.

What happens if I forget to order meals?

Please note that meals will only be provided to children if they have been ordered online prior to the deadline.

If you do not order a hot meal for your child you will need to provide a packed lunch from home.

What are the benefits of hot school meals?

Good food has been shown to lead not only to healthier, happier and more fulfilled children, but to improved behaviour and educational attainment. We believe the shcool lunchtime is a great opportunity for children to sit down together to enjoy a tasty meal and further develop their social skills. We therefore hope you will take advantage of the oportunity for your child to enjoy a healthy, balanced and nutritious hot school meal each lunchtime.
