WORLD BOOK DAY on 7 March saw Moordown St John’s taken over by characters, human or otherwise, from all the best loved children’s stories. The ‘Share a Story’ day started with a parade to admire the wide array of creative costumes and was quickly followed by a ‘Swap the Teacher’ session, where the children enjoyed a story read by a different member of staff. There were the usual visits from Hogwarts School of Wizardry and our regular feature, a Reading Buddy event in the afternoon, where the children’s love of getting together over a good book shone through.
“The parade was really fun because I liked looking at everyone else’s’ costumes. They were amazing!”, Ava Y4. “I never thought people would put so much effort into their costumes.”, Thomas B, 5HW. ” I really enjoyed when we switched and had ‘The Twits’ read to us by Mr Hammersley because it was fun to be read to by a different teacher.”, Bronwyn Y4.
“I liked it when she [Reading Buddy]was doing a pig noise, it was really funny!”, Harriet, RP.
All children went home with a £1 National book token to take to their local bookshop and swap it for one of the 12 FREE World Book Day books or use their token to get £1 off any full price book.
