Times Tables Rock Stars
We are pleased to inform you about an exciting online resource to support your child’s recall of their times table facts. The programme, ‘Times Tables Rock Stars,’ is a fun online package designed to help children master their times tables and corresponding division facts.
The package focuses on enhancing the children’s speed and accuracy of multiplication facts up to 12×12. A secure recall of times tables facts plays a crucial role in supporting so many different areas of Mathematics. Through regular practice, the children will increase their fluency and quick recall of these important facts, as well as building upon their confidence.
‘Times Tables Rock Stars’ can be accessed through the web address https://play.ttrockstars.com/login/26846 or alternatively on a tablet through downloading the Apple or Android App. Your child has been assigned a username and password. When your child logs on for the first time, they will select their own rock star name, as well as design their own rock star avatar.
The package has four different gaming modes: garage, arena, studio and festival across which the children will earn coins that can be exchanged for different accessories for their rock star avatar. The more questions they answer, the more coins they will earn!
Single player:
- Garage – This mode focuses on specific times tables facts set by their class teacher. As the children answer more questions, the package works out which facts the children take longer to answer and provides more of these questions.
- Studio – It is within this mode that the children seek to enhance their ‘rock status’ through mixed questions from 1×1 to 12×12. The programme calculates the children’s average speed which translates into a rock status. The quicker the children can answer, the higher their rock status. The aim is for children to seek to become a ‘Rock God’ – answering questions in less than 1 second!

1 sec/qu = Rock God
2 sec/qu = Rock Legend
3 sec/qu = Rock Star
4 sec/qu = Headliner
5 sec/qu = Support Act
6 sec/qu = Breakthrough Artist
7 sec/qu = Unsigned Act
8 sec/qu = Gigger
9 sec/qu = Busker
10 sec/qu = Garage Rocker
Multiplayer:
- Rock Arena – It is within this mode that the children can compete against their class mates. Similarly, to the garage mode, this focuses on specific multiplication facts set by the class teacher.
- Rock Festival – The Rock Festival games are open to players from around the world. The questions are selected at random from 1×1 to 12×12.
We recommend that your child practises their times tables as often as they can – short bursts of daily practice is most effective! Times Tables Rock Stars should be used in combination with other methods of practising, such as writing out the times tables they are working on and verbally practising recall of random facts, such as 5 times 12.
As a parent, you will be able to access your child’s ‘my stats’ page which will allow you to see which times tables facts your child is confident with, as well as which they may be finding difficult. The expectation of the National Curriculum is that by the end of Year 4, the children have quick recall of all of their facts up to 12×12.
