Mr Morgan’s Sports Round-up

sports 2sport

What a great term we have had with children from across the school getting involved in sports of all kinds.

The Years 5 & 6 Swimming Team did an amazing job representing the school at the Bournemouth Schools Gala. Hermione C finished 1st in 100m freestyle, Charlie S finished 3rd in the back crawl and freestyle and the Girls’ freestyle and medley relay teams finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. I was most impressed with Charlie S who generously stepped in to help Kinson Primary School, swimming as part of their relay team. What a true sportsman! Well done!

The Year 6 Girls’ Netball Team played superbly in the schools’ competition, finishing joint 3 overall, just missing out on the finals.

Year 4 pupils have been enjoying a new sport in their PE sessions – Handball. This is a popular sport in Europe and growing in popularity in the UK. They took part in a tournament organised by Bournemouth Uni and Handball UK and represented the school fantastically.

Finally, the Years 5 & 6 Tag Rugby Team have been benefitting from Mr Dunsford’s expertise and finished highly in the Bournemouth Schools’ Competition, qualifying for the County Finals! They played superbly as a team and at the County Finals, played 5 games, winning 4 and losing 1. They finished in the top 4 overall. What a result!

Remember as the days get longer and to get active after school, enjoy the warmer weather by riding your bike, walking or scooting to school. That will be my plan (not scooting though!!).
