We have successfully won a grant from Sport England to have a £30,000 18m x 10m Multi-Use-Games-Area (MUGA for short) installed onto our very tired school field. This will extend our play space all year round and provide a safe and purpose-built space for football, basketball, netball and many more games activities. Once the MUGA is installed we aim to have the remaining area of the field re-levelled and reconditioned with new topsoil and grass. We are able to use some of the Government Sport Premium funding for this but we will still need to fundraise for the pitch improvement.
MUGA-MUFTI – Next Friday 27 June! ~
We do need to urgently raise £4,000 to help complete the ground-works necessary for the MUGA installation. Our terrific PFA are confident that we can do this before the Summer holiday! Next Friday will be a special MUGA- MUFTI where children can wear sports kit of their own choice (football kit, martial arts, cricket, dancewear etc.) Our goal for this day is to raise £500. As a guide, please can your child bring in £1.50 on this day? Thank you for your support with this. Please make a special effort to support our Summer fayre this year as all profits will go towards the exciting improvements to our sports facilities!
Mufti day raised £500
Our Summer Fayre raised £2300! What a fantastic achievement.
Grand Opening of the MUGA (Sept 2014)
Our MUGA is finished and already being used by the children in games lessons, playtimes and in Clive’s after school football. Many thanks go to the PFA who, on behalf of the parents, raised £5000 to go towards this great asset and facility. The school has directed most of its Sports Premium Funding to make up the difference of the £15,000 that was needed to get the MUGA built. Our next project is to renovate and improve the rest of the school field to make it into a level, well-drained and lush sports field that we can use to give the children a better quality playing surface for many field-based sports and events.
With that in mind, the PFA Fundraising continues to focus on this next phase of the project and starts with an amazing fundraising event on Friday 17 October called ‘Powerstrike.’ AFC Bournemouth is supporting this event and have spoken to the children all about it. Further details and a sponsorship form will go out with our newsletter so please support your children to get as much sponsorship as possible! The highlight of the day will be the grand opening of the MUGA at 2:45pm by a mystery AFCB celebrity! Everyone welcome!
