Year 2 really enjoyed leading the KS1 Harvest Service. We had some fantastic singing including ‘Harvest Samba’, ‘One World’ and ‘It’s Harvest Time’. The narrators were amazing at helping us to reflect upon the importance of Harvest time as a time to give thanks to God and to share what we have with others who might not have enough to eat.
We shared some of our lovely harvest artwork of fruits and vegetables that we had painted and collaged. The Year 2 actors and storytellers also shared a wonderful performance of ‘The Enormous Turnip’.
‘I really liked the part when we were singing.’ Leah, Y2
‘I liked the part when we shared our harvest pictures.’ Aaliyah, Y2
‘I liked it because everyone was trying their best and we acted out the whole harvest, and it’s really important.’ Aleena, Y2
In Year 5, we were so proud to lead the Harvest celebrations for KS2. During our service at St John’s Church, we spent some time thinking about the meaning of Harvest and about how it is a time of sharing, caring and looking after others.
It was amazing to see so many donations of food for Hope for Food – over 800 donations! It was a great time to come together and help those who are less fortunate than us. Thank you to the whole school community for enabling us to support families in need through Hope For Food!
Dave Griffiths spoke to us about the fruit of the spirit Goodness and we thought about how good God’s creation is. We sang several songs to celebrate the Earth and Harvest.
